Rachel Fallon
Rachel Fallon is a Visual Artist working in mixed media and installation whose work explores themes of defense and protection in the domestic and maternal realm. Her work encompasses drawing, performance, photography and sculptural work in metal, textile and paper. Coming from a background in film and Cirque Nouveau theatre Fallon was awarded a place on the ArtLinks Artists and Practice Program with curator Cliodhna Shaffrey in 2011. She had a solo exhibition at Signal Arts Centre, Bray in January 2012. In 2012 she received an Artlinks Emerging Artist Bursary, a Group Project Bursary from Wicklow County Council for the printed project Tellurometer and was selected to take part in an Artist’s Research Group led by curators Cliodhna Shaffrey and Eilis Lavelle funded by Wicklow County Council and the Arts Council. Under the heading WWAR this group staged a 24hour performance piece “Dark Matter” in 2013 and a Billboard performance/installation for Culture Night 2013 in Bray. She has twice been selected for the Iron-R research project supported by the National Sculpture Factory and by C.I.T. research fund. At present she has a year long intermittent residency with the LFTT Library at The Guesthouse in Cork as part of The Tellurometer Project. She is a founding member of Outpost Studios. A member of the artist collective RAFT, the collective The Tellurometer Project, and a member of U.K. collectives Desperate Artwives and MeWe. She exhibits regularly in Ireland and abroad.
